Benjamin Franklin was one of the Founding Fathers of the United States of America, along with George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, Alexander Hamilton, James Madison, and John Jay. He was born on January 17, 1706, in Milk Village, Boston, Massachusetts, and died on April 17, 1790, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was notable for discovering electricity, among many other things.


His Discovery of Electricity[]

Benjamin Franklin invented electricity in 1752 by conducting a kite experiment, which involved flying a kite with a tied metal key during a thunderstorm. As he expected, electricity from the storm transferred to the kite and flew down the string, and gave him an electric shock.
